June Board of Directors report

The hard work and due diligence of the Governance Review Task Force is nearing completion. Following their in-depth review, comprehensive communications will advise the entire membership regarding any proposed amendments to the constitution and by-laws. These amendments ensure compliance with civil and criminal law and the regulatory environment and reflect best-practices for the real estate industry.

The Membership Engagement Committee continues its efforts to bolster member networking with the development of a Young Professionals Network (YPN) sub-committee. This group shall promote organic learning to young professionals of WinnipegREALTORS and provide opportunities for camaraderie, networking and knowledge sharing. The sub-committee will provide a platform for young members to discover the professional benefits of volunteering on association committees and nurturing future leaders within the association. This new sub-committee will meet bi-monthly.

Increased responsiveness to our membership is a valued goal for the association. After a recommendation by the IT Committee, and testing by staff, a new polling module will be integrated into Keystone. This will provide a quick and efficient method for the association to survey its members and provide the association with an accurate representation of member views.

The digital billboard utilized by WinnipegREALTORS is an important platform for marketing our current publications, public-facing association events and positive reinforcement of the benefits of using a REALTOR®. A detailed policy has been drafted and approved by the board. The policy determines the scope of all advertising including scheduling, usage and specifications. The billboard includes several messages promoting the professional advantages of using a REALTOR®, both commercial and residential.

Planning for the association’s upcoming Mayoral Forum continues. Working in partnership with AVentPro and the Winnipeg Free Press, the forum will allow the various candidates to offer their views, with a specific focus on real estate related issues. An increased social media presence is planned for this year’s event. Video content about the candidates will be created for the purposes of sharing via various channels. Five mayoral candidates have been approached to participate in both the forum and to contribute their video interview. The October 4thevent will be held at the Franco-Manitoban Centre from 7-9 pm and will be live streamed.
