Similar to the development of a residential infill strategy as part of the OurWinnipeg’s five-year review process, project manager Michael Pyl is heading up a study of the city of Winnipeg’s employment and commercial lands.
They have already held a stakeholder session involving a number of WinnipegREALTORS® Commercial Division members in June and plan to do a first round of public consultations this fall. Delivery of a final plan is not expected until 2019.
The study, currently underway and being led by Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., is to help guide and inform the city of its employment and commercial land requirements over the next 20 years.
Stakeholder contributions by experts, such as our Commercial Division members, will be very important to the success of the final plan. Local market intelligence will be invaluable throughout this process and that speaks to identifying recent trends, emerging trends and understanding what the initial land supply is at present.
Stay tuned for more as the plan unfolds and develops over the next two years.
