At this week’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board was pleased to announce Dan O’Brien as the 2026-2027 President of the Board of Directors.

“At my first AGM as CEO, I’m appreciative of the opportunity to welcome our 2026-2027 President of the Board of Directors, Dan O’Brien of Royal LePage Dynamic Real Estate,” said Crystal Hollas, CEO of the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board. “Dan has always been committed to contributing his time and expertise at the Board and when combined with his almost two decades of experience as a REALTOR®, he will be well-placed to serve Member interests while representing the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board as President for the coming year.”

O’Brien becomes President in his seventeenth year as a REALTOR® and thirteenth year of volunteer committee service at the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board.

“As someone who places a strong emphasis on the principles of honesty, professionalism, work ethic, and positive relationships, it gives me great honour to step into this leadership role at an organization that shares and upholds these ideals,” said Dan O’Brien, 2026-2027 President of the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board. “Seeing my mother’s experience as a REALTOR®, Broker and past-President of the Manitoba Real Estate Association has given me a unique appreciation for the opportunity a life in real estate can provide. My time before real estate gave me experience in sales and management but I’m a big believer in the value of collaboration and building positive, personal relationships and to me, that is what’s at the heart of success, not only in real estate but in all of life.”

O’Brien’s participation at the Committee-level within the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board began in 2014 and to date, includes roles on the Finance and Audit Committee, Professional Standards Committee, Salesperson Division Executive Council, Winnipeg Regional Real Estate News and Government Relations Committee, Investigative Committee, MLS® Committee, Member Engagement Committee, Executive Committee, Governance Committee, and the Board of Directors. Over this time, he was Chair of the Finance and Audit, and Investigative Committees, and Vice Chair of the Investigative, and Member Engagement Committees.

“I’ve participated at the Committee-level in most of my years as a REALTOR® because it’s helped me grow personally and professionally, and I hope that sharing this experience can help encourage other Members to see the value of volunteering and paying it forward to others in our profession,” O’Brien added.

O’Brien’s term as President comes on the heels of a real estate performance in 2025 when the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board’s market region moved against the grain from other major Canadian markets, with its third highest year in MLS® sales while passing the $6 billion mark in total transaction volume for only the second time in its history. A trend of lower housing supply is having a noticeable impact on market dynamics across the country. Despite lower inventory in the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board’s market region, strong sales continued which indicated that demand was high along with average price increases in almost every month of 2025.

The Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board prioritizes municipal advocacy efforts toward increasing housing supply to preserve our market region’s affordability advantage and to ensure Manitobans continue to be able to realize the dream of homeownership. Beyond being a historically strong investment, homeownership can provide potential benefits such as improved mental well-being, increased stability and a stronger sense of belonging within a community. Other advocacy priorities include support for infill residential housing development, improving the permitting process, and for building enabling infrastructure required to support communities.

“I’m a born and bred Winnipegger who takes pride in our city and province and I look forward to advancing the role real estate plays in our economy and how REALTORS® advocate for positive change on housing policy,” said O’Brien.

The Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board’s market region continues to be one of the most affordable in all of Canada and O’Brien is enthusiastic about further solidifying Winnipeg and the surrounding areas as attractive places to live, raise a family, grow, and invest.

O’Brien is joined by eleven other elected directors serving on the 2026-2027 Board of Directors of the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board.
