Introducing Tracy Mainland, Director of Publications

The Real Estate News has been an important and significant asset to WinnipegREALTORS® since its inception in January 1981. In the last 36 years, the REN has gone from a simple black-and-white-only publication found in a few banks and grocery stores to its current incarnation as a full-colour, glossy-cover newspaper available in over 550 locations in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. What hasn’t changed is its commitment to being Winnipeg’s premiere source of real estate information and for espousing the benefits and value of using a REALTOR®.

In order to meet the new demands needed in today’s marketing world, the REN has created several initiatives for its members, including the popular Real Estate News website with over 1.2-million views every month.

Now coming on board to further expand and refine the growing need for your digital marketing and online needs, WinnipegREALTORS® is pleased to announce the new director of publications, Tracy Mainland.

Tracy joined the WinnipegREALTORS® executive team in August 2017 and is already setting into motion plans that will propel the Real Estate News and all of its umbrella publications into new and innovative areas that will capitalize on its strong print foundation.

“I think there is tremendous opportunity for the Real Estate News to grow,” she said. “While the print side of the REN is still healthy and not in danger of going anywhere, I see incredible potential in increasing its reach, its content and its scale. And this applies to the Condo Lifestyles and Commercial Real Estate magazines, as well.”

The internet and social marketing has significantly transformed the real estate landscape. It has changed the way you interact with your clients, the way you engage with your fellow agents and the way that clients process their information.

“The public has increasingly utilized all the information that is now available to them when it comes to doing research about real estate,” said Tracy. “The Real Estate News is positioned to take advantage of today’s online savvy consumer, where we can offer them information that is current, accurate and relevant. We can draw on resources that only WinnipegREALTORS® and its members have access to, we can provide up-to-the-minute info about listings, and we have content about Winnipeg and its various neighbourhoods provided by professionals who’s entire job is to know this city and its amenities, its values and advantages.”

Tracy is no neophyte when it comes to marketing, whether in print or digital mediums. She brings over 20 years in media marketing, specifically with production, distribution and sales model creation for both newspapers and websites.

Most recently, she held the position of vice-president, Business Development Digital, Automotive and Real Estate with the Winnipeg Free Press, where she also developed and advanced niche publications. During her time with the Free Press, she created unique, high-impact editorial concepts and digital and print cross-selling opportunities.

Tracy was intricately involved in leading her team to embrace the digital environment, increasing print publication sales and managing many “to-market” projects.

In addition to her capable management experience, gained during many years of employment at the Winnipeg Free Press and the Winnipeg Sun, Tracy brings financial analysis capabilities as it pertains to the running of a publications department.

“For the last 36 years, the Real Estate News has created an important role for both our members and for the public,” she said. “With the new digital landscape, I completely see the REN evolving and expanding to take a greater place within that landscape.”
