At the 2026 MLS® Medallion Awards Gala for REALTOR® Members on March 6, 2026, hosted by the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board (WRREB), REALTOR® Amber van den Broek of RE/MAX Executives Realty was recognized with the WRREB Community Service Award for her incredible volunteer work in our community.

“Anyone who knows Amber knows how big her heart is and how committed she is to helping others,” said Michael Froese, 2025-2026 President of the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board. “She is exactly the kind of person who deserves to be acknowledged with this type of award, and it is an honour to recognize the effort she puts into making other people’s lives, and our community, a better place to be.”

The prestigious WRREB Community Service Award recognizes a local regional REALTOR® who has dedicated their time and effort to giving back to the community in a way that goes above and beyond. Nominated REALTORS® are evaluated on the impact they have had on their community, how active they are in serving as a positive role model and mentor, a demonstrated commitment of time volunteered toward community service that goes further than a one-time initiative, and the innovative approach taken to leadership.

“Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to make the world a better place — from “Save the Whales” as a child, to protecting the planet, to uplifting all of our fellow community members — every living thing deserves love and respect, we truly are all connected,” said Amber van den Broek. “Working with Habitat for Humanity and in real estate opens your eyes to how families’ lives change when they have safe, secure and adequate shelter to call home, which is why working with the Manitoba REALTORS® Shelter Foundation has been so meaningful. My life has been so much fuller and richer for the experiences I’ve had giving back, participating in boards, cycle events, and meeting such kind, generous, compassionate people throughout. I just feel fortunate to be in a position to give, support, uplift, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.”

Amber, a former Habitat employee, and her team participate in Habitat for Humanity Manitoba’s Team Build Days, with hands-on work building homes for families in need. She has consistently volunteered her time being in her 9th year on the Manitoba REALTORS® Shelter Foundation (Chair in 2022-2023), as well as organizing and supporting fundraisers at local REALTOR® golf tournaments, her annual client appreciation events which include a Christmas hamper drive and donations, and her own fundraiser “The Snow Ball,” which supported local charities for several years.

In 2008, she had the very humbling experience of volunteering at a school and orphanage in India where she taught English to students. With every transaction she closes, she makes donations to support the great work of many community organizations including the Manitoba REALTORS® Shelter Foundation, the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Art City, Green Action Centre, Bear Clan Patrol, Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, Humane Society, Cancer Care, Siloam Mission, House of Hesed, and more.

“Amber’s background in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the Asper School of Business has equipped her with the skills to create a lasting impact in both the real estate industry and her community,” said nominator and fellow REALTOR® Kristy Fillion. “Giving back is close to Amber’s heart, and she has dedicated years of board service including past Chair of the Manitoba REALTORS® Shelter Foundation, the WRREB Member Services Committee including the Chair of a Gimme Shelter event, and serving on the Green Action Centre board. She is deeply committed to affordable housing, as evidenced by her active support for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba through fundraising efforts and four years of participation in their annual Ride Around the Lake, a three-day 250 km cycling event where she personally raises almost $7,000 annually!”

With over 15 years of experience, Amber shares her expertise with agents within and outside her brokerage, focusing on building strong client relationships and sustainable business growth. She is a model of professionalism and continuous growth, speaking at REALTOR® engagements and advocating on behalf of the industry. She also engages in content leadership, using social media to educate and inspire her audience on giving back to the community and living green. Amber’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond her real estate practice, ensuring her efforts make a lasting impact on the environment and the Winnipeg community. Throughout her continued Board service, mentorship and advocacy, she remains a driving force in fostering positive change in Winnipeg.

REALTORS® play an active role in contributing to positive change in the communities they live in and serve. From helping established charity organizations to leading grassroots initiatives in their own neighbourhoods, REALTORS® are at the heart of efforts to help people and make communities better here and across our nation.
