8 reasons to visit the 45th Annual Fall Parade of Homes

With the first day of fall just around the corner, you may feel like you want to add a brand new home to go along with your pumpkin spice latte. And there’s no better way to cozy up to a new home than by attending the Fall Parade of Homes kicking off this Saturday, September 20, and running until Sunday, October 12.

This annual Manitoba Home Builders’ Association (MHBA) exhibition of newly built homes is the perfect low-key, no-stress way to help make your dream of owning a brand new home a reality. If you’re considering buying a brand new home, having a home  custom built to your specifications, or buying a unit in a brand new condominium, there are many reasons why visiting the Parade of Homes is a great idea.

Over 130 show homes to visit

The Parade of Homes is the signature showcase event for the province’s residential construction industry, providing Manitobans interested in building their dream home or buying a condo a truly unique experience. With over 130 new homes on display by 32 different builders in 24 of Manitoba’s newest neighbourhoods, this twice-yearly MHBA exhibition remains the largest and best Parade of Homes in Canada. That’s a lot of reasons why you should visit!

Walking through the actual homes

The Parade show homes are represented by Manitoba’s best home builders. With so many options available — each with its own layout, materials, finishes and styles — it means home buyers are offered a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the widest variety of home building options in an actual home setting. If you’ve ever wondered if a double-wide island plus a pantry will make your dreams of cooking like a chef a reality, or if a spa-bath with a walk-in shower will add just the right amount of luxurious calm to your morning routine, your chance to find out is during this event!

Talking to the experts in person

While visiting the show homes, you’re able to talk to the representative showing the home in person. They can tell you everyhing you need to know about all the unique features available in a newly-built, modern home, and what makes that specific home unique. They’ll be able to answer any questions you may have about new homes. Visiting show homes and talking to sales agents about different options and features will help you narrow down the perfect fit for you, your family, and your unique lifestyle. You might even meet the perfect REALTOR® to help you with your homebuying journey!

Discovering the latest trends

This event offers you the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in new home and interior design, the hottest new home technology, and cutting edge building materials and home systems. Instead of guessing what might be out there, you’ll be able to discover first hand the options available to you, from built-in security systems to whole-home smart technology. You’ll also be able to see first-hand what type of decor and finishes appeal to you, and the kinds of options that are available like home theatres, in-law suites or gas fireplaces.

Energy-efficiency

The industry Technical Research Committee consistently rates Manitoba new homes among the most energy efficient in Canada. Manitoba’s building practices ensure lower monthly energy bills and less impact on the environment. Homes built today have 31.3% less emissions, requiring less than half the energy of older homes to heat and cool despite larger-sized rooms. Building a new home allows you to install the very best energy-efficient systems during construction. Today’s homes are built to standards that ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for new home buyers and their families. Tougher safety standards and more efficient building products mean better air flow and quality.

New homes reflect modern living

One of the key benefits to building a new home is that you can choose exactly what you want and not concern yourself with moving into someone else’s idea of what looks good. With a newly built home, you can have everything just the way you like it. Newly built homes are designed for the way we live today, with open plans and large family rooms, easy flow for entertainment, attached garages, functional basements and plenty of space to grow. Also, newly built homes do not require the upkeep of older homes. Many are built with low- or no-maintenance materials. Less maintenance means fewer chores and more time to enjoy your new home!

You’re investing in your family’s future

Not only is your new home a financial investment, it is a lifestyle investment, too. By building a new home in a new neighbourhood, you are choosing new schools and community clubs for your children, new shopping centres, greenspaces to explore and opportunities to meet new people while creating a sense of community. With Manitoba’s economic stability, you are better able to financially plan your family’s future. Your investment in a newly built home is secure since home values in Manitoba continue to increase annually, demonstrating healthy returns on investment in each newly built home. We have some of the most affordable homes in Canada, and that includes brand new builds.

Peace of mind

The Manitoba Home Builders Association is the oldest provincial home builders association in Canada. The MHBA was established in 1937, even before the national Canadian Home Builders Association!  For over 87 years, the MHBA has been the voice of the residential construction industry in Manitoba, providing ongoing education for its professional members while promoting affordability and choice in housing. So when you work with a builder who is a member of the MHBA, you can be confident that you’re in good hands.
