WinnipegREALTORS® PAC team receives national award

At the 2017 Political Action Committee (PAC) Days event held by CREA in Ottawa last month, the WinnipegREALTORS® PAC team was pleased to receive CREA’s Outstanding PAC Team Award — Large Board.

This award, along with other recipients in Outstanding Team – Small Board and Individual Achievement were recognized for their efforts and achievements. The award recognized REALTOR® boards and their PAC teams who display exceptional initiative in advocacy of federal REALTOR® issues.

Four member representatives, including Dana Downey, 2017 Chair of the Government Relations committee, along with Kourosh Doustshenas, Brenden Morgan, Shirley Przybyl and Claudia Sarbit were joined by Peter Squire, WinnipegREALTORS® Vice President of External Relations and Market Intelligence in Ottawa. Mel Boisvert was unable to attend, but was also a part of this year’s PAC team. Together, they embraced reaching out to nine assigned MPs to impart important advocacy information from CREA.

Among the many advancements achieved by the PAC team was their diligence in helping expand CREA’s REALTOR® Action Network (RAN). Through the promotion of RAN, the development of a strong and unified Realtor voice to deliver its issues and concerns to the federal level of government was promoted.

The PAC team was also instrumental in influencing Winnipeg North MP Kevin Lamoureux to introduce a petition in support of CREA’s 2016 Home Buyers Plan recommendations in the House of Commons.

“This year’s PAC team was an exceptional group. The diverse representatives from organized real estate came together with the common goal of elevating a unified Realtor voice and delivering a consolidated message to MPs and the federal government,” said Peter Squire. “The advocacy provided forms part of WinnipegREALTORS® on-going efforts to represent organized real estate and ensure member’s interests are understood at all levels of government."
